Deborah Owens, LPC, CAADC, CEAP
Philadelphia-Chestnut Hill-Fort Washington Counselor
Experience matters in the counseling profession.
You want to know how I can help you. On this page you’ll find a little information about the experience and skills I bring to the therapy process. While the following paragraphs provide an overview, please know that it is often the quality of the “fit” between the client and the therapist that determines a better outcome.
My 25 years of clinical work includes extensive training in individual and couples/ marriage therapy. I’ve been a Director, Consultant, Trainer, and Clinical Supervisor at several high quality Behavioral Health, EAP, and addiction treatment programs including Rehab After Work, Caron, Johnson & Johnson, and The University of Pennsylvania Health System.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and hold a Masters Degree (M.S.) in Counseling Psychology and am an Internationally Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor and Certified Employee Assistance Professional.
Having worked in Fortune 100 corporations for part of my career, I understand the dynamics when you’re struggling with job stress or work-life balance. My scope of expertise along with personal experience as a spouse and parent and dealing with my own ups and downs enhances my effectiveness as a therapist. Clients say I “get it” and understand the “real world”.
As a life long learner, I continue to pursue advanced training and have been honored to present at numerous conferences such as the American Psychological Association, PsychoTherapy Networker, and the Employee Assistance Professionals Association. Service to my field is important to me as I recently completed a cycle as a Commissioner for the Certification Board and Chaired the Ethics committee. I currently serve on the research editorial board of the Partnership for Workplace Mental Health.
Although I’ve won numerous recognitions including Johnson & Johnson’s Standards of Leadership and Caron Community Leadership Awards, my greatest reward, by far, is the joy I receive from seeing my clients overcome obstacles, grow, and change. Such courage and resilience inspires and amazes me.
